When Do I Start Buying/and When To Have Baby Shower?

I am currently 17 weeks along and was wondering when is the best time to start buying stuff and when to have my shower. i am due Jan.1st i was thinking because of the holidays thanksgiving and christmas that i will have my baby shower at the begging of Oct. i will be roughly 27 weeks along
- is that to soon or is that a good time.
and for when to start buying stuff like a crib and clothing, i am having a boy so i know the colors but i was wondering when to really buy furniture, clothing, bottles and pacifiers. Should i wait till after my baby shower to get all or start preparing now.?

I don’t think it is too soon in fact im 15weeks due Jan 21st and I am having mine in october not sure when exactly but ill be 24-28weeks and I was told that’s not too early but a couple friends including the one throwing it that its not too early (their mothers lol).
I wanted to do it when it was still a little warmer out or at least no snow storms lol
    ….Good Luck

Yes,that is a good time to have your shower. I had mine at 33 weeks,a little late because I was so big and uncomfortable.
You can start buying the bigger ticket items now if you want. Since there may be quite a few you will need or want, the sooner the better really. But when it comes to clothing, baby care items, blankets. Wait on those,as you will get plenty of that at your shower.

Baby shower ettiquette is as follows: You do not throw your own shower. Someone is supposed to do it for you. And if no one does, you don’t have one! Also, 27 weeks is early. Most people have one around 32.
The best time to buy everything is after the shower.

  4. I would recommend to start buying clothes, socks, you know little things. and then after your baby shower buy all of the big things. I had a cousin who recieved the crib, stroller, car seat and all the major things at her babyshower.
So just to be on the safe side!!
    Congrats!

  5. Start buying stuff as soon as possible… Babies are expensive! I started buying neutral things right after my first doctors appointment. If you get any duplicates of things you bought at your baby shower, just take them back and get other things that you still need with the money… That’s what I did!

  6. Since you don’t know what other people will get you I would wait until your baby shower I’d say 27 weeks would be a good time for a baby shower. I have barely anything besides a few gender neutral outfits because I don’t know the sex of my baby. Its a 60% chance its a girl and 40% its a boy so I’m not trusting it with my baby. I wouldn’t go overboard with the clothes because you never know how big or small your baby is going to be, you’d hate to buy a lot then find out NB clothes are too small! Just if you see something you like at the store buy it, remember though your baby is due is December so you’ll need to get clothes that are winter acceptable. (I love shopping and get carried away sometimes thought I’d remind you). As for a crib I’d go ahead & get a bassinet at first but you can buy one right now if you want.

  7. I’m 17 weeks also, and I’m going next week to buy the crib. I ordered my dresser today, and my dad started working on the toy box and bookcase this week. So if you want to get going, now is a good time! I’m also looking into my bedding now because I’m having it custom made and won’t be registering for it.
One of my showers is going to be October 24th (I didn’t want to compete with the holidays, but I also didn’t want it too early), and my other shower is going to be in December on my last day of work–that one is for work friends only. I’m planning on registering in September or the beginning of October.
I think you can start getting clothing, but for a winter baby you might have to wait a bit because some of the stuff now won’t be good for when they are born. But you can get basics like onesies and sleepers now. And you could also buy a lot of cute summer clothes on sale now, just make sure you buy the right size for next year at this time. And save the receipts!!
I wouldn’t really buy all that much until after the baby shower (toys, bottles, etc) and I would also imagine that you’ll be getting some things as Christmas gifts too. Good luck!!!!
