  1. Put down a layer of plastic. They make special mats for car seats but if you can’t find one, get a clear plastic shower curtain liner and cut it to fit the seat. Leave a bit extra to hand down in front and to tuck into the back. Cut slits in it for the seat belts.
Cover the plastic/shower curtain with a couple of old towels. When the towel gets dirty, toss it in the washing machine.
They used to sell waterproofing stain repellant sprays in most laundry care sections of the grocery store. You may have to visit a specialty cleaning store (like businesses use) to find it now.

  2. i put towels underneath my car seats and change them when i clean out my car. they catch spills and save the seats from the imprint of the carseats on my leather. you can also buy the dog blankets for the car which are meant to be washed. I think I got mine at llbean.com but i know you can get them at amazon. they also cover the back portion of the seat and you can get names monogrammed on them. happy new car!

  3. there are seat covers especially for this. They are like plastic mats that you put under the seats. there are also these plastic covers/hangers that you put on the seat in front of the child so that when they kick it with their shoes it doesn’t get dirty.
    good luck

  4. Unless it’s a long trip, I don’t allow my kids to eat in the car. And if they do, it’s stuff that you can vacuum up easily and water for drinking.
