Child Molested As An Infant (emotional Issues)?

If a child/teenager were molested as an infant and had no recollection of the event(s), could he/she still experience the same emotional trauma as someone who had complete recollection?

  1. Yes, most definitely. Any experience that we have is stored in our brain. Even if we can’t actually recollect the events and experiences, everything is stored and although we can’t consciously remember, these events, especially if traumatic, can affect us for the rest of our lives.
This is why child abuse, whether physical assault, emotional abuse or sexual abuse is such a crime in most societies. It doesn’t allow the child to have a full and complete development free of anxieties and trauma. These things do affect children into adulthood and can even affect the way that the victim brings up his/her children.
Our children should be treasured and protected against any abuse or violence, and allowed to have their innocence until maturity.

  2. This is a disturbing question but yes, there have been scientfic studies showing that even if an infant is exposed to a lot of yelling they will probably have issues later on in life.
