  1. I would not let someone babysit my daughter that smokes, especially in the house and/or around the baby. It can cause problems like asthma or worse. You should tell your mom that she will not be allowed to babysit unless she stops smoking, and that you know about it and she can’t hide it. Give her a brochure with the risks associated with smoking and what it will do to her body. My Nana is dying from severe emphysema and would not stop smoking. She did the “smoke somewhere in hiding and no one will know” thing too. I might have saved her life for a few more years and in much more comfort had I confronted her about it potentially. Good luck!

  2. Absolutely no one smokes around my babies. I don’t employ a babysitter, so I know for certain!
I’m so sorry that your mom smokes. I’d have a long talk with her about it. The problem is that if you smell like smoke because of her smoking, someone might think that YOU are smoking! It’s a serious problem.

  3. I agree, nobody that smokes will babysit my children (I don’t have any right now). It’s extremely unhealthy, ecspecially on lungs that are so young.
