How Can I Decorate A Nursery For A Toddler Boy And An Infant Girl?

I know that the most obvious stuff is ocean/tropical, or barnyard/jungle themes, but my house is modern and my husband and I thrive on all things monochromatic and clean lines.. My baby boy’s nursery is baby blue and brown. The childlike accent thrown in is a few fluffy sheep:). We are expecting a baby girl next year and only have one room available to serve as the nursery.. any ideas?

  1. I am really attracted the the new baby colors of pink and brown. Since the boy’s room is already blue and brown, could you put some accents on her side of the room that are pink and brown? http://www.babybedding.com/pink-and-brow…http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.d…http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Carter’s-Baby-Fl…http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.d…
Also, you could find a pink sheep, or tie a pink bow on a sheep. http://www.thisplaceisazoo.com/products/…

  2. I have a 1 year old little boy and I didn’t want to go with the typical decorating either. I also am planning on having more children and don’t want to decorate with anything permanent. I painted the walls light blue. I went to the mall and picked out a themed calendar. I went to Walmart and bought silver frames on clearance- all different style borders- some square and some round. I cut the pictures out of the calendar and put them up in the room. It turned out so good. You would pay a fortune for that many framed pictures. Now if I have a little girl I can just change out the pictures with another calendar. Nature is always a good neutral decorating theme. It will go well with the blue- like sky and brown like trees. I would through in some green- that’s a great neutral color.

  3. My Auntie has a 2year old boy and a 3month old baby girl, they share a room and it is beautiful and I designed it with her! The walls are a pale shade of creamy yellow and around the middle where the border would be there are sailing boats with pine coloured deck and alternating colours on the sails (Pale pink, Pale blue, Lilac, Pale green, Pale pink, Pale blue, Lilac, Pale green, etc.) They have merely added some pink toys around the girls cot and blue around the boys. All the furniture is a pine wood! Hope this helps and congratulations on your new baby when it arrives!

  4. Check out the artwork on this site. Be sure to look at how they mix and match different pieces together. I think this could work well for combining girl and boy things. It is also very modern. Good luck!

  5. Just add a little bit of pink and a few butterflies.
