How Far Can Infant Vaccinations Be Spaced Out?

My daughter is 4 and a half months. She had her 2 months shots, when she was almost 3 months, and they told us to come back in, two months later.
Is it fine to take her in for them, a month later than they said? I’m not getting into reasons; I’m just wondering if any of you know, before I call and ask… Thanks!

  1. I never got more than 2 vaccines at a sitting. The pediatrician had to decide how to juggle them and prioritize them, because I wouldn’t budge. That’s just me. There is no fast and hard rule about distance between vaccines, even those that have set times between doses doesn’t advise starting them over if the time has gone longer.
I also didn’t give my son the MMR until 2 yrs old. Whatever your reasons, follow your heart and listen to your gut. You are the parent.

  2. According to the CDC, there is no maximum spacing between doses of vaccines. So yes, you can space them as far apart as you want.http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/recs/schedul…
“A vaccine series does not need to be restarted, regardless of the time that has elapsed between doses.” (top of page)

  3. Yes I had the same situation with my son, he was sick so it delayed his vaccinations by a month or so, I think and this is my own person opinion, its better to do them a little later, than to do them to soon. I took Jackson in a month later than they said and he did fine.

  4. The risk of going in later than recommended is that she will be susceptible to the diseases that much longer. It will not affect the response to the vaccine or mean that she has to start over with the series.

You’re not obligated to vaccinate at all anyway; so you can wait as long as you like. It’s your right as a parent.

  6. just wait another month there done that far apart for a reason, anyways all the best
