Infant, Flight Ticket, Why So Expensive?
Hi everyone,
I recently purchased two tickets from New York(JFK) to Venice(Italy)..
I paid around $1500 for me and my wife together ..
I called Delta to add my daughter(one year old) on the tickets..
The first time they told me I won’t receive a paper ticket at home anymore and I should pay the fare for my daughter at the check in…
Suspicious of all this I called again and they told me the fare changes every minute and to stop it I should pay it now with them…
She is 1 year old, she will be sitting on our lap and we need to pay $480???I paid for my seat $700 WTF!!!!
any suggestion?
You’re kinda at their mercy, sucks, huh?
By my own experience, I can say that international flights give little or sometimes NO discount for a kid… even an infant. Can’t say why, but have learned it to be true.
My advice, check on a regular ticket for her… if the price is so similar, at least you can have a lil more room…
I used to live in the US and traveled w my son a lot and he was always free before reaching 2 yrs… but even after, a lot of domestic flights only chanrged 1/2 price for his seat, but some charged 2/3, which is around what you’re looking at for a lap seat… don’t know what else to say except enjoy your trip and best wishes.
Oh, and I’ve flown here in Asia numerous times with him and ALWAYs pay full price… not even an under 12 discount. Maybe it’s the way it is???
