Is A New Transmission A Selling Point, Or A Turn Off?
I have a 2002 Pt Cruiser. This model year is infamous for trani problems, and mine is no exception. It left me stranded more than once, with infant in tow and far from home. I have now replaced the whole transmission with a rebuilt one, and am looking to sell the Pt. I don’t intend on hiding the trani fix, but was wondering if it is something I should advertise, or inform the potential buyer when they come/contact me. It is otherwise a really nice car, with custom flames, and I don’t want to put people off from seeing it, but I also don’t want to waste my time or theirs if they would not be interested in the new trani. Any advertising suggestions, or anything else for that matter will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
It is a HUGE selling point. I manage a garage in Detroit and we often buy cars. fix them and resell them. Any major repairs are always a good selling point, as long as the repairs were not accident, fire, or flood damage. This is especially true if you have a warranty on the trans. I just wouldnt say it was a HUGE and frequent problem. Just that it went bad, and you payed all that money to fix it.
a big sell point
It would be a big selling point to me.
I buy and sell cars all the time, and have been customizing for a long time.
I would say it’s good that it was replaced, but is the warantee trasferable to the new buyer?
Otherwise I wouldn’t even mention it to them.
If the potentialbuyer is aware of the transmission issues, a new (or rebuilt) replacement transmission may be a plus; check and see if the transmission has a transferrable warranty, if so, that’s a definite plus.
PT is based on the Neon platform, and has many of the Neon quality problems. You might want to check for recalls, some will fix your car for free. And no, the dealer won’t necessarily tell you about them without asking.
on a model with an acknowledged problem the new tranny is a plus. if it was rare and the car was low mileage people would wonder what you did to the car. but fixing something known to be a problem is a good thing for sure.
Sure tell the buyers that the trans, Has been replaced or new one that will be a good selling point, hope this helps
Big selling point – as long as you have receipts/invoices. I’d be more inclined to buy from someone honest.
