Kitten Elimination Problems?
I posted a similar question yesterday but didn’t get much helpful advice so I’m trying again…..
I am hand raising 2 kittens who are barely 2wks old. I’ve only had them about 3days. I’ve raised and fostered baby kittens several times so I already know about bottle feeding, stimulating to use the bathroom, ect. My problem is that one of them is having alot of trouble pooping. They both pee almost everytime after feeding, and one has pooped a few times… but the other has barely gone at all. She is the larger of the two and eats really well, but has a really hard to time going to the bathroom. The first 2days she only peed, nothing else. Then last night and this morning she pooped a very very small amount (just little drop looking bits). I added a little water to the formula last night since water helps with eliminating but I just want to make sure that she’s going to be ok. Also, both of their stools are a dark orange/yellow color. Is this normal? My other fosters didn’t have stool like that but they were also probably a wk older then these ones are.
They were found bagged up and dumped on the side of the road so is it possible that they just haven’t had good, regular meals in awhile so their bodies are out of whack with digestion??

Yellow stool can also result from insuffient bile output. Bile salts from the liver gives stool its brownish color. When bile output is diminished, it often first appears as yellow stool. If there is a greater reduction in bile output, stool lose almost all of its color, becoming pale or grey.
If the onset is sudden, yellow stool can also be a sign of a bacterial infection in the intestines. Or yellow stool can indicate that food is passing through the digestive tract relatively quickly. i would say try a high fiber diet, but the kittens are very young and their intestines arent fully developed so give it some time with a slightly higher diet to slow the food down and see if the color darkens. If not then there is a liver or bowel problem
Its because their mother would normally lick them to make them go. I suggest simulating it by rubbing their bottoms with a warm wet cotton bud.
drown em
you should definitely take them to a vet for a check up. or at least consult a vet about this.
it could that they need a few good meals or it good be constipated or have an infection that’s what happened to my cat
