Lactose Free Infant Formula?

My 9 week old was on Isomil Soy by Similac, and I switched to Similac Sensitive (milk based, lactose free) with doc’s ok, due to him being constipated and trying everything form Karo to juice to help it on soy. He is pooping fine now that I made the switch, but is very irritable and I noticed little clusters of bumps on cheeks and chin. Is this an allergic reaction?

  1. It might be but it can also be his body adjusting to the new formula. I would take him to the doctor to make sure it isn’t a allergic reaction.

  2. my daughter has the same formula, and she has bumps all over her chin

  3. take his temperature and try writing down a list of any other changes you’ve noticed or his reaction to the bumps (itchy, sore, etc.) since the change in formula, then call the doctor’s office. If there’s any concern they will have you bring your son in immediately for further examination.
It could just be that he’s getting used to the new formula and it could clear up soon. It could be an allergic reaction and if it is they will have you try a different kind. Don’t try this until you specifically get doctor’s approval, though, as any switch could make things worse.
    good luck =)
