Since You Cannot Give Many Conventional Medicine For Babies- Is It Best To Use Homeopathy Remedies?
My 12 month old baby has thick runny nose which I believe is hayfever. I was wondering whether I should go to the homeopathy chemist and speak to a pharmacist about what is the best product to use for a baby. What do you think

I would probably be more inclined to go to a GP. Particularly as homeopathy has not been scientifcally proven to work. It is true that there can be a placebo affect but in a 12 month old child that isn’t going to work. I don’t have kids so don’t know what food they eat at 12 months but when adults have a cold reducing diary products reduces the mucus and clears up the runny nose. It works for me but as I said, not sure about babies.
actually you can give a 1yr old child piriton syrup a 2.5ml dose (1mg) twice daily.
however it ‘may’ make them a little drowsy. it didn’t affect my kids. they got it for an itchy rash which appeared.
i honestly would not recommend homeopatic medicines as there is not any clinical evidence to support them.
look up the dosage for piriton syrup or generically known as chlorphenamine syrup on the net. but the 2.5ml twice daily is what it is licensed for in ages 1-2yrs it says on the bottle
chevaune
I would ask a highly recommended homeopath. They are quite honest usually, about the actual use and effect of their field.
Personally, i would think you might be at some risk because homeopathics are pretty powerful stuff!!
My gut feeling is that herbs would be gentler for young ones.
When it concerns children it is always better and safer to seek medical advise first before doing or trying anything.there are so many side affects to medicines that you can never be too carefull (better to be safe than sorry)
Homeopathic remedies that are purchase from say Wholefood would be one option….although, since dosage from another source maybe toxic…I’d stay away from anyone not highly qualified. Homeopathic is not synonymous with safe. At 12 months of age, your child has many medical options also. It all boils down to what you feel most comfortable with. You are a very capable and obviously careful parent….trust your gut/intuition.
i use homoeopathic teething remedies, bruise relief and cough bottle. nelsons is a good brand, those really seem to work better than the conventional, you could try homoeopathy out as its not the most serious illness in the world so you can afford to try things out. when my son is like that i tend to cut down his dairy intake as well as that seems to have an ill effect and you could try steaming to loosen his nose up if it gets stuffy.
