It depends on where you are. I’m in Northern Virginia where everthing is notoriously expensive….childcare up here averages $300 a week at a child care facility (not in-home care).
If I could find childcare for $200 I would consider that a GREAT price….but the rates could be much lower where you live.
It really depends on your location.

Tell them you are in child care, not a maid. Do they really want you focused on doing laundry or caring for the kids?
Ask for more than if they would bring the kids to you. If they pay you under the table you can give them a break but it’s up to your ethics to accept such an offer.
Your state also makes a big difference in figuring a number. So can’t help you there.

No less than $140 a week for the infant. In the summer you should take no less than $220 a week for the both of them, especially if you will be expected to take the older child to and from any type of activities. I run an in-home daycare and these rates are high for an in-home daycare but as a nanny you will be expected to do the housekeeping too, therefore your rate will be higher. They should be expecting to pay this type of salary for personal care. You may also want to inquire about health care, they may chip in for you since you won’t have benefits. Be sure to ask about vacation time also. Good luck to you!!

I cared for a 4 month old infant part-time for $200/week, but that was only $10/hour. So for full-time I’d ask for more per hour. Are you live-in or not? If not, I’d figure what my bills are each month, add $300 for fun money, and request that. You have to be able to live on what they pay you!
