The pediatrician my girls go to says that kids don't start to dream and have nightmares until around 2. I don't know what goes on in there little heads or how people know this but that's what she says.

I don't think she's having nightmares...
I read in a magazine that babies that young don't actually dream of anything.. they just doze off.
You could get a professional opinion though, because I'm no doctor lol.
But I'm probably guessing that maybe she just wants to be held and that's why she cries and then stops when you hold her..

I believe they can have nightmares and dreams because, Sometimes I can just tell my lil guy has nightmares, and dreams, Why else would they just randomly smile in there sleep? I just dont see how anyone could Know that they do or dont have dreams, No one knows" But My opinion is, I think they can have dreams so young.

My son is & months old. The past couple of days he will wake up just screaming it takes awhile to get him calm. I think that they do have nightmares causes I have done the same thing you have done take all his clothes off check him over, check his bed, and check all over the room. When he sleeps with me he if fine but if he is by his self he wakes up screaming horribly loud crying really big tears.

I wish I knew! My three-month old daughter zones out sometimes when she's laying in her crib or sitting in her bouncer, and suddenly she'll jolt back to life, and it scares her somehow. She screams her head off for ten minutes when that happens, and nothing happened to her. I always wonder what scared her out of her daze.
I think babies - maybe not newborns, but infants with even a tiny bit of life experience - dream, even if it's only of bright colors that they may see throughout the day, or their parents' faces (I'd like to hope). :) I hope that's what makes my daughter smile in her sleep! :)
