  1. The feeling is that life begins at conception and that it is sacred.
    says who?
What happens if there is a miscarriage? I never saw a funeral for a miscarriage? And if life is sacred, why do we kill people? Are the catholics doing anything to stop people getting gunned down in the streets? What about battered women and children?
And before you get mad at me, I used to be a Catholic, until I felt that they did not care about the world we live in, but the world that they froze themselves into

  2. I am a liberal and ultra pro-choice, but you have to see this from their perspective. I think a woman should have the rights to choose what happens to her own body at any given moment in time. Also all influences should be weighed such as rape/abuse/incompetent parenting/teen pregnancies. If a pregnancy can ruin someone’s life, then abortion should be considered along with adoption and other options. This is my opinion, but i believe catholics believe in the sanctity of life. That life is precious and they regard those unborn babies as life. And an abortion is basically murder and that means damning perhaps the mother to hell. This sin is a powerful impetus to push catholics to protest. Maybe they are protesting mroe against the fact that legalized abortions can create a society where they think that abortions will be so common that premarital sex will sky rocket. there are always political agendas as well. With americop, student loans, etc i don’t think there is much ethical there or anything that can damn a giant number of people. i know what you are thinking. Maybe other things should be prioritized, and i definitely think so, but emotions seems to outweigh reason so much.

  3. Your protests are probably better leveled at right-wing protestant fundamentalists rather than Catholics.
In most countries besides the United States Catholics actually support student loans, health care and social security.
Most politicians in the United States who support the institutions you mentioned actually identify as Catholic also.
Abortion issue aside, you are targeting the wrong demographic.

  4. I’m sure a lot of Catholics do walk for americorps funding, student loans, health care, and social security. You just notice when its a whole bunch of catholics walking against choice because thats what they all believe in. Other religions walk together when its something they believe in, if other religions believed in pro-life then they too would be walking with the catholics.

  5. We care about all people and defend the unborn who cant fight back or scream. Someone has to, you obviously wont.
The Catholic Church gives more to charity than any other “Nation” on earth including the USA.
Catholics have educated more people than any other nation on earth.
The Catholic Church has nearly 700 hospitals in the USA alone.
And if it was really Pro-”Choice” why doesnt the baby get to make a “Choice”? Call it what it is Pro-Abortion, Pro Murder.
    I will Pray for you.

  6. Because the unborn babies are being KILLED, WITHOUT ANESTHESIA (yes I’m sure some don’t yet have nervous systems to feel pain, but most do at the stage at which they are aborted). The causes you are talking about don’t involve painful death to innocent children. And besides, who is to say they aren’t working for those causes as well? People can care about more than one thing.

  7. im not catholic and i believe in protecting unborn babies. they did not ask to be created, they cant speak up for them selves nor can they protect them selves. if people don’t want children they should have them selves sterilized or just abstain from sex. that my opinion and every one else has a right to theirs. i also feel tho that people should think about the homeless children before they decide to start a family why doesn’t the government help people who adopt children if i was able and could take care of them i would adopted a few my self. i have 1 living child and i would not trade the world for him. he was Special to me from day 1

  8. The Catholic Church fights for the rights of the unborn because so many people think that killing children during a pregnancy is okay. These children have no voice–they cannot defend themselves.
The Catholic Church does A LOT for those already here. Here’s a link to the Catholic Charities USA site. http://www.catholiccharitiesusa.org/NetC…

Those other matters are not in their jurisdiction – it’s up to governments to govern their people. However the question of life and the soul is, but they still can’t interfere with governments.
If we understand Christ’s ministry we can conclude that God understands and comforts a woman who had an abortion and is haunted by guilt and remorse, and did the best she could under gruelling circumstances – She is who he reaches out to.

  10. GOD! I LOVE this question! It doesn’t even require an answer, really, does it? Because they’re ridiculous and are scared to death that they’re going to hell if they don’t cram their opinions down everyone else’s throats; I’m not even Catholic & I know people at my church who support the death penalty for REAL people already on the planet, yet go beyond MENTAL when it comes to getting rid of a few cells that haven’t been in existence for more than a few weeks. Wonder why they don’t scream and protest every time someone gets rid of a wart or some other unwanted growth? Silly…

  11. Ooooh..ooooh…I know I know!!! Pick me !!!
    Its because…
    Americorps aren’t killing unborn babies
Student loans aren’t killing unborn babies
Health care isn’t killing unborn babies (except for that one passage, if ya know what I mean..)
Social security isn’t killing unborn babies
Maybe your head is on the wrong way. Give the baby a choice.
Catholics and other people protest this law because of moral reasons. Nothing to do with “choice”. If you get pregnant, guess what? You made a choice.

  12. because it’s a baby a human being they have the righ to life do you have any idea what the so called doctor does to the baby in an abortion it is just sickening and they feel it to it is excruciating and it also scars the mother for life both externally and spiritually

  13. I disagree with all of your statements, as a former Catholic. Also, let it be noted that Catholicism is fundamentally opposed to capital punishment, unlike other Christian denominations.

  14. Actual Answer VPD on February 23rd, 2010 at 12:05 am

There really are moral issues neefing to be considered before using Abortion as a form of birth control. They simply won’t relent, and neither would I. I believe in family planning, but not by abortion unless there are no other alternatives left.

  15. You’re aware that Roman Catholic charities move more money towards charitable causes than just about any other charitable agency on the planet, yes?
And I’m not even Roman Catholic, I’m an atheist, but seriously — credit where credit is due.

  16. The Catholic Church is the largest charitable organization in the history of mankind. Google “catholic charities”.
I hate to be like this but, Epic Fail.

  17. Unborn babies are defenseless and incapable of making any kind of choice. They need to be protected from selfish and cold hearted people.

  18. Technically, they care *equally* about the unborn and people that are born.
But I agree with your point completely.

  19. Because people already here got to live a life already, now dident they

  20. i thought this would have been obvious, because unborn babies can’t protest

  21. gee…. that’s funny. The Catholics that post here are always speaking in favor of choice for women and gays……

  22. The Beloved Apostle Paul on February 24th, 2010 at 9:52 am

They just want to give everyone a chance at life I guess…..

  23. that’s not really true..

  24. I an not Catholic , but why do you ask such dumb questions?

  25. Because they’re ignorant and foolish!
