Are There Too Many Carbs In This Diet Plan For Me To Lose Weight?
I am trying to lose the last of my baby weight, and am eating the following diet, but don’t know if there are too many carbs here, especially in the evening, for me to lose weight?? What do you think??
I am 27 yrs old, 5ft 6 (168cm) and weigh 65kg (144lbs). I need to lose 6kg (14lbs). I am doing 40mins brisk walking per day.
Breakfast:
Half a cup of oats with low fat milk, 1 walnut mixed through and grated half an apple on top
OR
Organic muesli and low fat milk (small bowl, not too many raisins, no added sugar)
Mid morning:
12 almonds
Lunch:
Chicken salad
OR
Vegetable and lentil soup
Afternoon snack:
Whey Protein shake
Dinner:
Stirfry chicken, veg (carrot, broccoli, red pepper) and half a cup of boiled rice (sauce is a little sweet chilli and soy)
OR
Beef stew (made with lean beef, potatoes, carrots, peas, stock and a little flour and tomato paste)
I have just started, but want to make sure I’ve made a diet plan that is going to work?? Would love advice pls!!!

.For dinner, make the rice brown rice if you have the chicken, and use very little potato in the stew but add more veggies (green beans, summer squash, cauliflower, etc).
Actually, as long as you burn more calories than you consume, you should be okay. Your body needs some carbs just try to keep them healthy ones…complex (brown) carbs from whole grains, brown rice, etc and what naturally occurs in fruits and veggies.
this is a good diet plan. At least your including plenty of veg in your dinner and including low fat milk for breakfast.
i personally think that as long as you like the food you chose to follow and aren’t putting pressure on yourself because you need to lose weight (not that you need to) then go for it. you don’t no if you don’t try !

Try out this website http://www.fatsecret.com It’s amazing! I am doing weight watchers and it really helps me. You can track all of your food including calories, carbs, fat, protein .. all of that. It has a huge food database with all of the values or you can add your own food. It really helps me keep track of what I eat and to be accountable. You can also log your exercise and it will tell you how many calories you have burned. You can weigh in and it will keep a weight log for you also. Good luck!!!!
First off, there are more than one way to skin a cat. You can lose fat from a low carb diet and you can lose fat from a high carb diet IF your protein is the same for both diets AND your total calories are the same for both diets.
So let me advise you on the menu plan you listed:
Breakfast. Not enough protein, very high carb in relation to your protein.
Midmorning: Good source of fats.
Lunch: Chicken salad sounds good BUT it depends on how much chicken and what ingredients you used to make it.
Afternoon: Good for protein.
Dinner: It depends on how much chicken and lean beef.
Let me ask you. How many calories is that? How many grams of protein is that for the day? Grams of carbs for the day? Grams of fat?
If you don’t know these answers then you won’t know how to make a change to your diet if it isn’t giving you results. This is why we should count calories and count our grams of the macronutrients.
At 144lbs, I’d recommend you eat 1400 calories every day. 600 calories should come from protein. The remaining 800 can be split amongst carbs and fat however you like.
If you want to do a low carb diet, do it like this:
Still eat 1400 calories
Still eat 600 calories from protein.
Now eat 600 calories from fat.
Eat 200 calories from carbs.
If you design your meal plan around THOSE numbers you will reach your goal.
Weight loss is a tricky topic. Lots of people are unhappy with their present weight, but most aren’t sure how to change it – and many would be better off staying where they are. You may want to look like the models or actors in magazines and on TV, but those goals might not be healthy or realistic for you. Besides, no magical diet or pill will make you look like someone else.
So what should you do about weight control?
Hope this can help u.
