Chocolate In Pregnancy?
Im 5 weeks pregnant. Over the last few days Ive managed to scoff a box of organic chocolate all to myself. Its this craving thing, I can’t seem to stop eating it. Now im gonna make a huge effort to moderate it as I don’t want to be a hippo when the baby comes but its just occured to me – chocolate has caffine in so now Im a bit worried!!! Am i being paranoid??

don’t u know that im experimenting my babies when im having them in my womb coz on my 1st baby which 4 years old now, healthy and smart, i’ve ate chocolate a lot (a big bars of chocolate twice a week) on my last trimester and it wieghs 6.6 lbs only when he comes out.
On my 2nd baby which is 1 1/2 years old now, i ate chocolate a lot on my 1st trimester ( a regular bar of chocolate 3x a week) and he is very healthy and hyper but he weighs 8.4 lbs when i give birth to him. And on my last trimester to him my ob-gyne tell me to get diet coz my belly is too big.
And this 3rd baby i have now which im having, 6months on way and i’ve tried to start eating chocolate again…
I’m doing this coz i have read in the magazine that chocolates helps the baby more active and keeps them smiley always.. and its true! All my sons are friendly and have a smiling faces always.
After giving birth to them, its time i start dieting again…
Exactually just Moderate it , an Walk alot , that will help keep the Pounds off after the baby , an it will help you during labor !
Yes. A little bit of chocolate never hurt anybody but moderation is the key. Now Caffeine is bad for pregnancies in excess but if you have a little it’s not going to hurt you. If your body is used to a high caffeine intake it’d be wise to slowly lower the caffeine level to avoid withdraw.
Don’t worry about it. Caffeine is not recommended during pregnancy, but the amount in chocolate is not equal to a soda. I had never even heard the caffeine thing with my son and I ate enough chocolate to fill willy wonkas chocolate factory. I gained quite a bit of weight, but he was perfect.
cravings are normal enjoy your pregnancy and remember everything in moderation even caffeine. well except drugs and booze.
yes, it contains caffeine. usually doctors allow to drink one cup of coffee a day. but chocolate counts too. so, just be moderate with caffeine.
Lots of people do some caffeine during pregnancy, and their babies turn out fine. However, you are right that the chocolate has caffeine and should be eaten in moderation as with coffee. The doctors disagree on how much is safe. Some say none and some say no more than 2 cups of coffee a day or the equivalent. Keep in mind that babies (inside you and out) process caffeine much slower than adults so they are more likely to get a build up of caffeine in them when an adult isn’t.
You are just being a concerned mother-it’s natural! Work on limiting yourself-all I wanted was reese’s cups. So I limited myself to 3 mini ones a day (most of the time). If you have a day you go a little crazy its ok-your child will be fine. You won’t be a hippo when the child comes-remember a good portion of the wieght you gain is baby/fluid. As long as your take some prenatal vitamins and be sure you have enough nutrients eating chocolate is fine! Good Luck!
you are fine, just try to lessen your intake. Chocolate is empty calories
ha ha …Im hungry too! and all the snacks I used to eat seem grose to me now!
I dont know what im craving yet, im just hungry…and tired….
I wanna nap!
Caffine, in moderation, according to recent studies is completely safe. 2-3, 8oz cups of coffee is what I was told I could drink.
try substituting something healthy instead of the chocolate. the chocolate will not hurt you or the baby, just try to eat it in moderation so you will not gain all that weight.
if you just eat a little bit each day it wont hurt nothing
dont worry about the cafeine, just worry about the calories. I would slow down just a tiny bit!
Congrats on your pregnancy BTW!!!!
