How Long Is Homemade Baby Food Puree Good For If Refrigerated? Will It Last Longer If Frozen?

I would like to make organic baby food at home and put it into the little jars. How long will it last in these sealed jars if refrigerated – and how long if frozen?

  1. In general about 3 days refrigerated. Months if frozen, I have found that vege’s dont freeze well though not for puree’s, it comes out of the freezer all lumpy and horrible. I gave up freezing vege’s and only freeze fruit puree’s now.

  2. They would be good for a day or so in the fridge, a week or two in the freezer.
Even if you seal the jars, are you going to vacuum pack them, or can them (like you would can pickles by a method that boils and sterilizes them?) – if not, then they are only good for a day or so in the fridge and a week or two in the freezer.
If, on the other hand, you are planning to can them with a hot water bath, then they will keep for a long time.
I would make the baby food, feed it to your baby fresh, then freeze the rest in an ice cube tray, and when they are frozen, pop them out and put them into plastic zip-lock bags. They will keep that way.
